Updates

Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.  Lamentations 3: 22-23

 

This verse always brings much needed hope for the new day. And today is no different as I read this verse in another devotional. Except that today, the Holy Spirit highlighted the pronouns for me. I’m quick to notice the words love and compassion and faithfulness, and thankfully so, but today it was the pronouns his and your that caught my heart.

 

The Lord’s great love is the reason I am not consumed; not my self protective love, or my husband’s love for me, or even my grandkids’ love for me (gulp). Only His love, great love, keeps me from getting swallowed up by today’s to do list, cares and concerns. I am not consumed, absorbed, depleted, washed up and worn out, because of the Lord’s great love.

 

His compassion never fails. My own compassion will and certainly my friend’s may, but not God’s. His tender love and mercy will always be mine in Christ. I don’t have to question or wonder about it. And it is endless. We cannot use it all up. Impossible.

 

Your faithfulness is great Lord. Again, not my own faithfulness or even the trusted faithfulness of a very dear friend, as blessed as I am to experience that. My expectation is met by His fidelity and steadfastness. He truly is the only One who is the essence of that word, faithfulness. He cannot deny Himself. He is and ever will be faithful.

 

We can meet the day, embrace it, because of His great love, compassion, and faithfulness.

We’ve been offering the digital version only for the past 2 years, but since so many have asked, we listened and are expecting the shipment this coming week!

The weekend services are over, all hardboiled eggs accounted for, friends and family here and gone; and here we are – the week after Easter. Well, really our celebration of Easter. It is just a day after all. Right?

I admit to getting pretty worked up over the worship services at my church, my women’s bible study, and planning our family’s meal for Sunday afternoon. And I’m not sorry. Not one bit. If there was ever a day to go all out crazy for, it should be Easter Sunday. I mean, it is the game changer, the crux of the entire Christian faith. Jesus is ALIVE!! For heaven’s sake!

And I want that to change my week after Holy Week. I want that to change me.

And it does. He does. He changes me. Because it is His very alive life in me that works this out.

So when your kids go back to school, when you go back to work, to the busy, messy life you were in before you celebrated Easter, rest assured that Christ in you will live His very alive life in you wherever you are. And that life in you is the light that will help bring many sons to glory. That love in you, the God’s love that has been poured into our hearts through Holy Spirit love, will love others around you, even, and especially the hard to love ones.

Our part is to trust. Abide. Believe. Surrender.

We are an Easter people.
